WFUSM Lipid Sciences Research
The Lipid Sciences Research Program at Wake Forest University School of Medicine is one of the largest and longest running research activities integrating basic and clinical investigation at the medical school. The research consists of cutting-edge genetic, molecular and nutritional research into the causes and prevention of epidemic diseases. A major focus is to find interventions that will help prevent heart disease, while asthma, diabetes and obesity are targets as well. The program includes a longstanding NIH funded Program Project grant in lipoprotein research as well as the Botanicals Research Center and is the home of the Institution's Transgenic Mouse Core facility.

WFUSM Physician Assistant Program
The Physician Assistant Program at Wake Forest University School of Medicine is a graduate level program and has a unique history of curricular innovation using Clinical Problem-based Learning strategies that emphasize a small-group approach to learning. Graduates of the Program complete a 24-month course of study and are awarded a Master of Medical Science MMS degree in Physician Assistant Studies. One class of 48 students is enrolled in early June every year.
